Plymouth Guildhall

It is really good to see the recently restored exterior of this listed building following the removal of the scaffolding, revealing the sensitive workmanship in the repair of the stonework.

In our role of Principle Designer for the project, careful planning was carried prior to and during the project to ensure health and safety and the methodology of works during the restoration process.

Following the recent completion of the Plymouth Guildhall restoration works, we wish to highlight some other recent conservation local projects in the public realm, which we were appointed Architect or Principal Designer.

East Tinside Steps

Following damage and destabilisation over a number of years, the circular steps and adjacent pier were sensitively restored to bring the area back into the public realm and is particularly much used in the summer months.

An interesting feature of this project was the use of barges during the construction process.

Commercial Wharf Sea Wall

Following a failed section of sea wall located at Commercial Wharf, adjacent to the Mayflower Steps and within the Barbican Conservation area, the restoration works included extensive repairs and refacing of the sea wall with Plymouth Limestone.

Pounds House

Pounds House offering views over Central Park in Plymouth is a Grade II listed villa in need of attention.

Within our role we surveyed the rear of the building and in particular the loggia and prepared information for the sensitive restoration.
